In this treatment model the addiction is approached from a two part diagnosis. First is the
psychiatric diagnosis, which lends itself to the fact that the person has underlying
emotional problems and second, is the substance abuse or dependency diagnosis. This
treatment option does in fact address the commonality in all habitual behavior, which is
the underlying emotional problem. However, it treats the second diagnosis as if it is a
separate issue from the first, and let me assure you it is not. The habitual behavior stems
solely from the need to mask the underlying emotional issues. Plain and simple!!!
