Agonist maintenance treatment programs (Methadone Clinics) are based on the theory that the use
of Methadone will block drug withdrawal and reduce cravings thereby reducing illegal opiate usage.
The program also boasts that the participants will be able to lead a normal life under the treatment of
Methadone maintenance. How in Lords name could anyone lead a normal life being numbed by another
substance! And, I guess legal opiate usage is far better than illegal opiate usage! This by far
has to be the most ridiculous theory I have ever heard of! This is nothing more than trading one
drug for another to continue to mask the pain of the underlying emotional issues.
