Overcome Addiction - Psychotherapy |
This treatment model is based on cognitive behavioral strategies, which in theory claim
that a learning process plays a critical role in maladaptive behavior patterns. This
program encompasses several cognitive behavioral strategies, which includes teaching
the individual to identify and correct the problematic behavior. Now, do you honestly
think for one second that a person partaking in substance abuse does not recognize their
behavior to be problematic? And, for heavens sake addiction is not a learned behavior. If
it were there would be schools offering degrees in addiction!!!!! This form of treatment
tends to uncover the emotional issue then brings it to the forefront, which causes a need
to discuss the issue over and over again! The issue only needs to be discussed once!
However, the person must be instructed on how to confront the issue and how to put it
behind them forever. Because the root of the cause is not confronted, the need for the
individual to mask the pain is still present and it is far too difficult for the person to
abstain from habitual behavior when out of the therapists care.
